NSS Mourns the Passing of Hildreth “Hal” Walker – NSS


Walker was Instrumental in Lunar Laser-Ranging Analysis Through the Apollo Program

The Nationwide Area Society (NSS) is saddened by the current passing of a beloved member of the group, Hildreth “Hal” Walker Jr. on the age of 91.

Walker started working in missile protection programs in 1959, after a stint with the Navy, advancing into laser analysis in 1964. He was the primary to fireside the KORAD-1500 laser on the Moon after the Apollo 11 Moon touchdown, aiming at a reflective goal positioned there by astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin.
